H.M. T.B. 36 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Service
T.B. 36 arrived at Plymouth on 23 March, 1888 with T.B. 35 and the destroyer Porpoise. On the way into harbour, T.B. 36 collided with a collier off Keyham Yard, bending two of her stanchions.[6]
In 1895, T.B. 36 was one of six first-class torpedo boats stationed at Hong Kong.[7]
In July, 1904, complaints from Vice-Admiral Noel of the China Station about the condition of his torpedo boats and destroyers prompted a review of his assets by First Lord of the Admiralty Selborne. Within, it was noted that T.B.s 35-38 had never been re-boilered, but that they should remain functional until new boilers from J. & S. White were available.[8]
Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 036.[9]
T.Bs. 035, 036, 037 and 038 would serve throughout the Great War on the China Station.
T.B. 036 was sold at Hong Kong on 27 November, 1919.[10]
