Commander R.N.R. (retired) Robert Bannister Lyness, R.D. (29 November, 1874 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Lyness was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 3 December, 1908.[1]
Lyness was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 3 December, 1916.[2]
Lyness was cautioned after grounding the sweeping sloop Foxglove in 1919.[3]
Lyness assumed command of the survey ship Flinders upon her commissioning around mid October 1919. Around one month later, he had moved on to command the sweeping sloop Isinglass.[4]
Lyness was demobilised and placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 13 January, 1920.[5]
