Life & Career

Born in Batheaston, Morres gained twelve months' time on passing out of Britannia in July, 1896.

Noted as a "good destroyer officer" despite having been reprimanded by a Court Martial following a grounding of Gipsy in late 1909, Morres was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1910. He would never again be handed command of a ship of any kind.

Morres retired at his own request on 10 March, 1912.

Morres was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 26 December, 1920.

In World War II, he would provide special service in 1939 to late 1940, and then work at the Ministry of Information in a civilian capacity.
