Admiral SIR Edward Desmond Bewley McCarthy, D.S.O.*, C.B. , K.C.B. (15 November, 1893 – 8 June, 1966) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1916.[1]

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1924.[2]

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.[3]

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1935.[4]

World War II

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 7 July, 1944.[5]

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 September, 1948. He retired on 15 December, 1950. He was promoted to Admiral on the Retired List on 15 March, 1952.[6]
