Commander (retired) John May, D.S.O., R.N. (19 October, 1878 – 27 June, 1952) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
May was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1900.
Lieutenant May was appointed in command of the destroyer Ostrich on 3 January, 1905.[1]
May was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1908.[2]
May was granted the acting rank of Commander on 20 February, 1915.
Post-War
May was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 31 March, 1923.
May went to South Africa in 1947.
