Captain (retired) Harry Hugh James Hodgson, (19 July, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Colonel J. O. Hodgson, Royal Garrison Artillery.[1]
Hodgson passed out of Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in April, 1910 ranked 8th of 77 cadets in marks on the Part I examination.[2]
In 1912, he was admitted to Plymouth Hospital to be treated for a hammer toe on his left foot. He was also recognized for having contributed to good results for Basilisk at the 1912 Battle Practice.[3]
From the start of the war, Hodgson served in Cochrane, in which he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1915. On 20 May, he was appointed to the scout cruiser Forward. He remained in the ship until May, 1918, and on 15 August 1918 was appointed to the battlecruiser Indomitable.[4]
Hodgson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1923.[5]
Hodgson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1928.[6]
Hodgson was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 19 July, 1943.[7]
