H.M. T.B. 52 (1886) | |
---|---|
Builder: | John I. Thornycroft & Company[1] |
Ordered: | 30 April/1 May, 1885[2] |
Launched: | 1886[3] |
Completed: | September 1886[4] |
Sold: | 19 December, 1919[5] |
H.M. T.B. 52 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 052.[6]
Service
In 1895, she was one of thirteen T.B.s of 125 feet or greater length and four smaller ones stationed in Devonport.[7]
She commissioned on 18 July to participate in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1894 as one of three T.Bs. of the Torpedo Division 1 of the Red Side.[8]
She commissioned on 8 July to participate in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1896 under the command of Acting Sub-Lieutenant in Command David Thomas Morris.[9]
Sold to Multilocular Shipbreaking Co. on 19 December, 1919.[10]
