Commander (retired) Joseph Hamilton Rohrbacher, (18 September, 1858 – 26 September, 1939) served in the United States Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Mississippi.[1] Appointed to the Naval Academy from Pennsylvania. [2]
He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1880. [3]
Rohrbacher was promoted to the rank of Ensign on 26 Jun 1884, to the rank of Lieutenant (j.g.) on 7 Mar 1893, and to the rank of Lieutenant on 6 Dec 1896.[4]
During the Spanish-American War, he served as an Inspector of Steel in the Bureau of Ordnance.[5]
Rohrbacher next saw duty on the Training Ship Hartford from 2 Oct 1899. [6]
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander on 7 Nov 1902 [7] while once again on Inspection Duty for the Bureau of Ordnance. [8]
Rohrbacher was appointed commanding officer of the collier Abarenda from 7 May 1904. [9]
He retired on 30 Jun 1905 under Section 8 of the Act of 3 Mar 1899, [10] being promoted to Commander (retired) that same day.[11]
