Lieutenant R.N.R. George Spencer, D.S.C. (21 October, 1886 – 23 April, 1918) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Spencer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 25 August, 1912.[1]
He was awarded a D.S.C. for service in action with a German submarine on 13 July, 1917. It is not clear what ship he was in at the time, and this might be the date of the award.[2]
He was appointed to the ferry steamer Iris on 23 March, 1918 and died of wounds sustained in her when she was employed as an assault ship during the Zeebrugge Raid on 23 April, 1918.[3][4]
