Staff
The budgeted staff of the Chief Inspector of Naval Ordnance in 1914 was one Chief Inspector, three assistants, one Ordnance Depot Clerk, First Grade, one Ordnance Depot Clerk, Third Grade, and two Hired Writers.[1]
- Rear-Admiral Richard B. Farquhar, 12 November, 1907[2] – c. 12 November, 1907
- Rear-Admiral Francis G. Eyre, 12 January, 1911[3] – 9 July, 1914[4]
- Acting Commander John A. Duncan, 4 July, 1914[5] – 4 April, 1919
- Acting Commander Llewellyn E. H. Llewellyn, March, 1919[6] – 1 November, 1927
- Commander (retired) Kenneth Gofton-Salmond, – 30 March, 1936[7]
- Commander (retired) Hugh P. Middleton, 30 March, 1936[8] – 3 October, 1938[9] (vice Gofton-Salmond)
It is not clear whether this is a simple retitling of Chief Inspector of Naval Ordnance.
- Commander Cuthbert W. Swithinbank, 1 January, 1932[10] – 2 March, 1935[11]
- Lieutenant-Commander John H. Brougham, 1 October, 1926[12] – 2 August, 1928[13]
- Commander Cuthbert W. Swithinbank, 9 October, 1926[14] – 1 January, 1932[15]
The apparent conflict here may be that Brougham's duty is at Woolwich. That's a wild guess, as the other man may also be there.
- Lieutenant-Commander John H. Brougham, 10 August, 1920[16] – 1 October, 1926[17]
- Lieutenant-Commander John H. Brougham, 2 August, 1928[18] – 15 September, 1933[19]
- Commander (retired) Kenneth J. T. Southgate, 1 September, 1939[20] – 23 August, 1943[21]
