Captain Godfrey Noel Brewer, D.S.O., R.N. (17 March, 1901 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
As with many men born c. 1899 or later, his Service Records at The National Archives do not reflect activity between 1931 and 1939 or so.
Life & Career
Brewer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1922.[1]
He served in H.M.S. Royal Sovereign from September 1917 through the end of the war.
Brewer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1930.[2]
In March and April, 1934, he spent a month in Whitehall at Wei-hai-wei and then took her to Shanghai and Hong Kong in mid to late April.[3]
Brewer was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1935.[4]
Brewer was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1943. He was awarded a D.S.O. on 19 October "for gallantry and devotion to duty in determined & successful attacks on U-boats."[5]
