Vice-Admiral SIR Stephen Hope Carlill, K.B.E., C.D., D.S.O.* (23 December, 1902 – 9 February, 1996) served in the Royal Navy.

As with many men born c. 1899 or later, his Service Records at The National Archives do not reflect activity between 1931 and 1939 or so.

Life & Career

Carlill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1925.[1]

Carlill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1933.[2]

Carlill was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1937.[3]

World War II

Carlill was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1942.[4]

Carlill was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 January, 1952.[5]

Carlill was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 16 December, 1954. He was placed on the Retired List on 7 July, 1959.[6]
