Lieutenant Vernon Maud, R.N. (10 February, 1862 – 20 March, 1901) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in London.
Maud was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1884.
Maud and at least one bluejacket drowned when their boat was swamped by bad weather in Luce Bay while Maud was in command of Leda. An inquiry found "every step possible was taken after occurrence."
Both bodies washed up in Monreith Bay on the Wigtownshire coast in June.[1]
