S.M.S. UC 42 was one of 64 submarines of the UC II class.

Service

Recent History

In early 2015, seals placed on the shallow wreck off the coast of Cork were found to have been disturbed by modern divers, raising the concern that the remaining mines on board might be detonated. It seems possible that steps will be taken to remove or somehow render safe the remaining mines.[6]
