Commander (retired) Aubrey William Howe, R.N. (15 February, 1862 – 7 April, 1928) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Howe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1884.
Howe was appointed in command of the special service vessel Alecto on 1 September, 1898.[1] He was invalided on 16 September 1899 with "debility & derangement of digestive functions resulting from repeated attacks from malaria." He arrived back in England on 29 September.
After some final appointments in H.M.S. Collingwood and Camperdown, Howe was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 6 March, 1905.
Howe served briuefly at the outset of the war in the Transport Service in Southampton, reverting to Retired Pay on 7 July 1915 after suffering a herniation. He died "suddenly" on 7 April, 1928.
