The King George Prize Scholarship was awarded each year to the Officer in the Royal Marines who is selected by the Admiralty for admission to the Military Staff College at Camberley as a result of an annual competitive examination.
Each Scholarship lasted for two years and ordinarily consisted of half the net income for the year derived from the Fund. The Navy List estimates this approximately at £97 10s, but it is not clear whether this is what the winners received, or the size of the endowed fund.[1]
The first Scholarship was awarded in 1914. There was an alteration in the rules for the Prize in 1921.[2]
