Vice-Admiral (retired) SIR Arthur Guy Norris Wyatt, K.B.E., C.B., R.N. (8 March, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of A. N. Wyatt, Esq., gentleman.
Wyatt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1915.
Already with the ship as navigator, Wyatt was appointed in temporary command of the survey ship Kellett on 15 November, 1921 during the absence of Commander Harvey.
Wyatt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1923.
Wyatt was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.
Wyatt was appointed in command of the survey ship Fitzroy and in command of survey vice Fryer, on 15 October, 1931. He stepped aside to take a Meteorology Course at the Air Ministry in mid-March 1932 but then returned to Fitzroy until being superseded on 12 June, 1932.
Wyatt was appointed in command of the survey ship Challenger and in command of survey from 12 June, 1932 until 28 August, 1935.
Wyatt was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1938.
World War II
Wyatt was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 July, 1945.
Wyatt was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Vice-Admiral on 22 October, 1948.
Wyatt was reverted to the Retired List on 7 August, 1950 and received permission to proceed to Australia, to be at the disposal of the Australian navy authorities in the first instance in the event of an emergency.
