H.M.S. Redcar was one of thirty-two Ascot Class paddle minesweepers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Redcar was sunk with the loss of seven lives in a minefield in the Dover Strait. The destroyer Tartar was heavily damaged in the same field, and the paddle sweeper Kempton was also sunk.[7]
