Andrew Browne Cunningham, First Viscount Cunningham

Admiral of the Fleet Andrew Browne Cunningham, First Viscount Cunningham, K.T., G.C.B., O.M., D.S.O., (7 January, 1883 – 12 June, 1963) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Cunningham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1904.

Cunningham was appointed in command of the destroyer Scorpion on 10 January, 1911.

Cunningham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1912.

Cunningham was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1915.

Cunningham was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1919.

On 29 March, 1918, he was appointed in command of the destroyer Termagant.

On 11 May, 1926, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Calcutta.
