Career
Barham was commissioned at Clydebank on 19 August, 1915.[2]
Differences from Class
Owing to her use as a flagship, by some point Barham had a 9-foot rangefinder for the admiral's use on top of the charthouse. When, late in the war, it was desired to provide an effective additional 9-foot instrument for torpedo control purposes, Barham was to skip getting one on the assumption this instrument would be available for the task on most occasions.[3]
Alterations
Barham was completed with director firing installed, as all capital ships were supposed to do after 2 January, 1915.[4]
In December, 1914, Open Director Sights were ordered for all[Inference] her turrets. They were likely in place by her completion.[5]
Between late 1915 and mid 1917, she was fitted with a Torpedo Control Plotting Instrument Mark II in the TCT.[6][7]
Her secondary battery directors were installed in July, 1917.[8]
