Lieutenant-Commander Clement Gordon Wakefield Head, R.N. (4 February, 1885 – 25 November, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Seaford, the son of J. J. Head, Esq..
Head was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1906.
Head was appointed in command of the submarine C 10 on 1 January, 1910.[1]
In 1912, Head applied to attend the Central Flying School, but withdrew at some point upon realizing that his training in submarines would thereby be wasted.
Head was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 October, 1914.
Head died when D 2 was lost off the German coast. He had taken command only after the previous captain, Arthur George Jameson had fallen overboard two days prior. His death was understood only to have occurred between 25 November and 1 Decembar, 1914, but the latter date was selected as the official one.
