Admiral Edward Francis Bruen, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (7 November, 1866 – 22 November, 1952) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Early Life & Career
Bruen was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1901.[1]
Bruen was a dreadnought captain during the First World War, commanding the Bellerophon at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. After the battle he was appointed to command the new battleship Resolution.
Bruen was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 28 September, 1917, vice Thorp.[2] On 21 February, 1918, he was appointed in command of the Second Cruiser Squadron of the Grand Fleet.[3]
On 1 May, 1920, Bruen was appointed Director of Naval Equipment in succession to Rear-Admiral Edward M. Phillpotts.[4]
He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 August, 1927.[5]
