Admiral Edward George Shortland, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (2 November, 1855 – 7 April, 1929) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1900.[1]
Shortland was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 11 April, 1912.[2]
Great War
Shortland was mentioned in despatches by the Commander-in-Chief of the British Expeditionary Force, Field Marshal Sir John French.[3] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 5 March, 15,[4] and was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 25 August, 1918.[5]
