Captain Lawrence de Wahl Satow, C.B.E., Royal Navy (23 June, 1865 – 23 October, 1948) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Husband of Josephine Satow. Lived at 22 Salterton Road, Exmouth. Satow died on 23 October, 1948 aged eighty-three.

Career

Satow was made a midshipman on 18 June, 1880.[1]

He was appointed a Lieutenant & Commander of the destroyer Hunter on 13 September, 1898.[2]

He was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1901.[3]

Satow was appointed in command of H.M.S. Espiegle.[Citation needed]

He was possibly appointed in command of Charybdis.[Citation needed]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Hood on 1 June, 1907, holding that position until 22 October, 1909.[Citation needed]

He was promoted to the rank of Captain on the retired list on 1 September, 1911.[4]

In retirement, Satow was appointed to the Royal Navy depot at Port Said on 2 February, 1916.[5]
