H.M.S. Titania was building as a civil vessel, but was purchased in 1915 and converted to a submarine depot ship.
Service
Titania completed conversion to a depot ship in November, 1915. She served the submarines of the Eleventh Submarine Flotilla at Blyth 1915-1918 as they supported the Grand Fleet.[5]
At the end of 1920, she was serving as flagship of the China Submarine Flotilla.[6]

- Commander Frederick A. Sommerville, 28 October, 1918.[7] (and in command of a submarine flotilla)
- Captain Charles S. Benning, December, 1920[8] (and as Captain (S) in command of the China Submarine Flotilla)
