Admiral Alfred Arthur Chase Parr, F.R.G.S., Royal Navy, Retired (14 June, 1849 – 20 February, 1914) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
On 24 August, 1880, Parr was appointed Commander of the frigate Inconstant, soon to become flag ship of the Detached Squadron for Particular Service under Rear-Admiral The Earl of Clanwilliam.[1]
Parr was promoted to the rank of Captain on 21 June, 1887.[2]
He was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Melpomene on 17 June, 1890.[3]
Parr was appointed command of the battleship battleship Prince George on 26 November, 1896.[4]
He was reappointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp, to King Edward VII, on 25 February, 1901.[5]
On 24 May, 1901, he was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral, vice Wilson.[6]
Parr was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 5 July, 1905, vice Jackson.[7] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List, at his own request, dated 8 March, 1906.[8] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 2 December, 1908.[9]
