Taken from The Navy & Army Illustrated, 1898.
Original accompanying text: "The "Dido's" captain is Captain "Joe" Neville, as he is popularly known in the Navy, although his name is actually "George," a widely popular and a very able officer. As a proof of his ability, the fact that he was first lieutenant to the Duke of Edinburgh in the old "Minotaur" in the Channel Squadron will suffice. His ability as a seam an is also, it is said, well matched by his ability as an amateur violinist. Captain Neville has only recently returned from Australia, where for three years he had been in command of the Naval Forces of the Colony of Victoria."
